CAMPFIRE COOKING 

Campfire cooking makes food more satisfying whether you’re tired from your outdoor activities or just ending a relaxing day at your campsite. Bring cooked ground beef with you and there is almost a limitless menu of different meals you can easily prepare by adding other ingredients.

Enjoy these 4 recipes! 

You don’t have to be camping to make them – it’s just more fun that way – like everything else. Go ahead – make more nostalgic memories to cherish as you enjoy these delicious meals.

 

  CAMPFIRE CHILI AND CORNBREAD

 INGREDIENTS

  • 1 pound(s) browned ground beef
  • 1Chili Seasoning spice pack (approx.. 1.25 oz.)
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 1 can chili beans
  • 8 ounces cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 (8.5oz) boxes cornbread mix (such as Jiffy)
  • 1 eggs
  • 1/3 cup milk

DIRECTIONS

  1. Line your cast iron kettle or skittle with 2 layers of heavy-duty aluminum foil
  2. Layer the first 4 ingredients in order
  3. Cook for about 10 minutes with foil closed to keep liquids from evaporating
  4. Add grated cheese and cook covered for another 5-7 minutes.
  5. Mix the cornbread mix with the eggs and milk and spoon mixture over the chili and cook covered with foil for approximately 20 minutes or until the cornbread is done

CAJUN CAMPFIRE LASAGNA


INGREDIENTS

  • 1 pound(s) browned ground beef
  • 1 box Hamburger Helper Lasagna
  • Diced onion (fresh or dried)
  • 1 can corn
  • 1 can hot chili beans
  • 1 cup water
  • Grated cheese

DIRECTIONS

  1. Line your cast iron kettle or skittle with 2 layers of heavy-duty aluminum foil
  2. Layer the first 6 ingredients in order
  3. Cook for about 10 minutes with foil closed to keep liquids from evaporating
  4. Add grated cheese and cook covered for another 5-7 minutes

CAMPFIRE BEEF TERIYAKI

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 pound(s) browned ground beef
  • 1 cup baby potatoes quartered
  • 1 onion thinly sliced
  • 1 cup thick Teriyaki sauce
  • 8 sheets heavy duty aluminum foil

DIRECTIONS

  1. Combine layers of foil to make 4 double packets
  2. Layer the ÂĽ of the ingredients in order
  3. Fold right and left edges in and roll together to close, Fold top and bottom edges in and roll to close the package
  4. Cook for about 10 minutes with foil closed

CAMPFIRE CLASSIC CHEESEBURGERS

INGREDIENTS

  • 8 slices bacon cut in half (16 slices)
  • 4 slices onion
  • 4 slices of cheese
  • 1 pound(s) browned ground beef 

 

DIRECTIONS

  1. Combine layers of foil to make 4 double packets
  2. Layer the ÂĽ of the ingredients in order
  3. Fold right and left edges in and roll together to close, Fold top and bottom edges in and roll to close the package
  4. Cook for about 10 minutes with foil closed
